Along the Way

Lucy and Hannah arrived at Foxwoods Casino at one thirty AM. They would have arrived at their planned destination, The Mohegan Sun, but the exit was closed and the mean GPS woman kept recalculating them back to the same exit. Eventually she found an exit toward Foxwoods and figured it didn’t matter which casino they were at as long as they shut the snippy GPS woman up. Continue reading “Along the Way”

Along the Way

Lucy opened her eyes and it took a moment to remember where she was and the crazy idea she agreed to go along with. She was in Hannah’s Lexus resting comfortably in the ridiculously soft leather seat and Kenny Daniels latest CD was playing softly on the stereo. It was two minutes past midnight and they were on their way to Manchester New Hampshire. For Lucy’s safety, it was a damn good thing they were. Continue reading “Along the Way”

Along the Way

Hannah had been waiting patiently for over ten minutes for a server to ask for her order. She’d give it another minute or two before she walked out and found someplace else to grab a quick cup of coffee. She wasn’t ready to go to her lonely, sad, too large for just one woman home. There were too many memories of the life she used to live and at this very moment it would push her over the edge. Continue reading “Along the Way”

Along the Way

Lucy peeked behind the industrial sized refrigerator making sure no one was around before she stepped into the stock room and locked the door. She took a deep breath before pressing the “call” button on her phone. This was it. Her first foray into a life of crime. She laughed at herself while waiting for her phone call to be answered. Blackmailing her lousy son of bitch ex-husband would not get her convicted by any decent jury. The bastard deserved it and more. Continue reading “Along the Way”

I am writing this story exclusively for my Eric Church friends. “Along the Way”  is not fanfic and all my characters are fictional. I am a published romance author, however I am not a professional proofreader, so please excuse the minor grammatical errors. I will do my best to post a new chapter every Monday evening so if you have a few minutes to spare, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Along the Way

Hannah waited for the last notes of one of her favorite songs to end before she turned off the car. She flipped the visor down, opened the mirror, smiled to see if there was any lipstick on her teeth and, tucked a couple of loose red curls behind her ear before she stepped out into the warm early summer air.

Looking out at David’s beautiful five-bedroom house along the peaceful Navesink River in Red Bank, New Jersey, Hannah took a deep breath before walking towards the door. Today was the three-month anniversary since their first “real” date and David hinted that he had something special planned. Unfortunately, Hannah wasn’t looking for anything special at the moment. Or maybe not ever. Continue reading “Along the Way”
